A fundamental part of our strategy is having desirable and powerful devices that enable the experiences people want and elicit their excitement. Creating these devices involves a close partnership between hardware and software engineers, designers, and manufacturing. We are currently building the next generation of products and Surface needs you!

We are seeking an experienced Manager of Program Management who has a proven track record of managing PM leads and shipping products. You will be responsible for leading the definition and development from concept to prototype to implementation for a number of technology areas across Hardware and Software, delivering solutions across the Surface portfolio. You will work with internal / external partner teams, product management, architects, development, quality assurance, and user experience teams to align objectives, create functional specifications, implement a plan, and ultimately deliver a high-quality, customer compelling products. The successful candidate will have effective written and oral communication skills, excellent cross-organizational and project management skills and thrive in a highly innovative, evolving, and ambiguous environment.

Responsibilities

  •  You will have the opportunity to work at the cutting edge of software and hardware, driving delivery of both current products as well as helping to define the future of our systems in Surface.
  •  Manage PM leads.
  •  Lead and develop a team of PMs to drive technical leadership, business goals, project schedules, and team communication. You will help balance upcoming releases and priorities as you drive the technical strategy, planning and delivery across products and report out regularly on status.
  •  Drive a culture of innovation and experimentation throughout the team. You will have the opportunity to work with inside and outside Microsoft to develop solutions that works across multiple devices. This will require deep software knowledge as well as hardware considerations for multiple platforms.
  • Collaborate within Microsoft to develop best of breed solutions that are leverageable across multiple architectures and product generations.
  • Responsible for the team delivering drivers, memory, performance, power, storage and USB solutions.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years embedded system, Software or Program Management Experience.
  • 5+ years of managing people.
  • 2+ years of managing leads who manage people.
  • Ability to travel internationally.

Preferred Qualifications include:

  •  Excellent written communication and presentation skills.
  •  Strong strategic leadership and analytical skills.
  •  Demonstrated track record of leading product teams to ship.
  •  Experience with embedded system software development, especially at a system architectural level.
  •  Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  •  Held responsibility for the creation of functional specifications, project schedules and building plans to deliver.
  •  Enthusiastic, attention to detail, results oriented, organized, motivated and self-driven.
  •  Experience managing vendors, creating SOWs.
  •  Experience with hardware design.
  •  An understanding of the Intel and/or ARM SOC architectures would be helpful but not required.
