Sydney Metro is Australia's biggest public transport project and first fully-automated metro rail network, connecting customers and transforming the way Sydney travels. Our new generation of driverless trains are fast, safe and reliable, and link with Sydney's existing public transport network to provide seamless journeys. About the team

 

The Operations, Customer and Place-making team ensures Sydney Metro is equipped to deliver integrated, reliable, customer focused and efficient services. We are also managing large scale place-making projects, designing and developing thriving precincts where community members can gather, connect, shop, work and play. We are proud of what we have achieved so far and excited for the full vision of Sydney Metro to come to life.

 

 

The opportunity

 

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Sustainability Manager to join the team.  The role is accountable for the development and implementation of sustainability initiatives for Sydney Metro projects.

 

Your accountabilities:

 

Contribute to a robust sustainability culture and promote this internally and externally to key stakeholders.

Ensure that designs, construction contracts and operations have sustainability features embedded.

Work with delivery partners and operators to ensure sustainability outcomes are achieved.

Contribute to and lead initiatives across the sustainability spectrum, addressing resource efficiency, materials management, climate risk, carbon and energy risk, environmental improvements, the supply chain, and opportunities to enhance benefits to local communities.

Conduct and manage research and development activities, traveling around Sydney as required.

About you

 

We are looking for a capable and dependable professional who has a passion for sustainable infrastructure, achieving great outcomes and building strong stakeholder relationships.

 

You will have proven experience and success in environmental and social sustainability practices, in complex operating environments associated with major urban development or infrastructure projects. A background in environmental or civil engineering, environmental management, social sciences, sustainability management and practice, planning, architecture or similar is essential.

 

To be successful, you will have a good understanding of how environmental and sustainability outcomes are embedded through the design and commercial processes in infrastructure projects, with experience in ‘value for money’ considerations and a track record of successful delivery.

 

 

Salary and benefits

 

The salary for this position is Grade 9 ($138,670 - $155,309) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.  For more information on Employee Benefits at Sydney Metro please click here.
