About the role 
 
Opportunities currently exist for Senior Registered Nurses  to join our committed and dynamic fast paced surgical / medical nursing team on wards  predominantly specialising in Colorectal, Gynaecology, Bariatrics & Breast, Plastics, Vascular, Hepatics and General surgery. . Amongst this we have on occasion medical, oncology & patients with inflammatory bowel conditions requiring varying treatments. We have a dedicated strong presence of MDT including Stomal therapists, Dieticians, Physiotherapists, Pharmacists, Cancer nurse specialists, Wound Care specialist & Case managers. All of whom are very willing to aid with teaching caregivers & patients alike. We have a part time ward based staff development nurse who is also a valuable resource in assisting new caregivers and support with ward based clinical skills, allowing us to promote team nursing in our area.
Applicants must be available to work a rotating shift roster of day, evening and night shift from Monday to Sunday.

We are seeking a Full Time or Part Time Registered Nurses with experience in  Surgical and Medical Wards skill set of
  

  • Colorectal
  • Gynaecology
  • Bariatrics
  • Breast
  • Plastics
  • Vascular / Cardiac
  • Hepatics
  • General Surgery

 
Surgical Nurses – Provide nursing care to patients with injuries and illness that require surgical intervention.
  
Medical Nurses – Provide nursing care to patients with conditions, such as infections, metabolic disorders and degenerative conditions, which require medical intervention.
  
  
These positions are  offered on either a full-time or permanent part-time basis as mutually agreed.

Competitive Salary Package paying between $33-$47 per hour depending on increment year and level
AHPRA registration, National Police Clearance and Working with children check all required. 

Tasks Include:

  • assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care for patients according to accepted nursing practice and standards
  • working in consultation with other Health Professionals and members of health teams, and coordinating the care of patients
  • providing interventions, treatments and therapies such as medications, and monitoring responses to treatment and care plan
  • promoting health and assisting in preventing ill health by participating in health education and other health promotion activities
  • answering questions and providing information to patients and families about treatment and care
  • supervising and coordinating the work of Enrolled Nurses and other health care workers

The successful candidate will have:

  • A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.
  • Current registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse or Midwife.
  • Knowledge of acts, codes and standards relevant to current practice.
  • A commitment to personal ongoing education and professional development.
  • Clear concise written and verbal communication.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems, or seek help from appropriate resources.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality patient care and patient satisfaction
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously within the multi-disciplinary health care team.
  • Ability to prioritise and multitask to achieve desired results
  • Knowledge and experience in the application of continuous quality improvement principles.
  • An understanding of and ability to apply occupational health and safety principles to ensure own safety and that of others in the workplace.
