Job Description

Job Description

We are looking for an energetic and caring support worker/caregiver to work with our family to support our 14 year old daughter.

Our daughter is friendly, creative and loves to have fun.  She is on the Autism Spectrum and also faces mental health struggles requiring support on a daily basis.

The role would suit someone who genuinely enjoys spending time with teens and supporting them to overcome the challenges they face and live their fullest life.  We are looking for someone who has a high-level of awareness and knowledge of disabilities, neurodiversity and mental health.  This role may suit a trainee social worker, teacher or youth worker who is looking for part-time work around their studies.  We are a busy (and loud!) family of six and this role will also assist with caring for our other three children as required.  Previous support workers/caregivers have become part of our extended family so if you are looking for meaningful work and enjoy supporting and encouraging young people, we'd love to hear from you.

The role includes:
Personal cares (e.g. supporting with self-care tasks)
Home help e.g. dishes, tidying up, meal preparation, vacuuming
Transporting client to after-school activities (all mileage will be reimbursed at the IRD rate)
Assistance with homework

The ideal candidate will be energetic and fit, pro-active and motivated.  Someone who sees things that need to be done, and gets on with it, without needing to be asked.

The standard hours of work are approximately 3.00pm-7.00pm Monday to Thursday.  We can be flexible around this.  We also are looking for casual support workers/caregivers so please get in contact if you are interested in more casual hours.

Additional work is available weekends and school holidays.

We require:

  • Full, clean and current NZ driver’s license
  • Fully vaccinated for Covid-19 and willing to comply with government vaccination mandates
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Access to your own reliable transport is required.
  • Police check/Children's Worker safety check is required
