Electronic Controls & Motor Systems (ECMS) is looking for a Supply Chain Specialist. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the successful candidate will work with the Engineering Department and Supply Chain Buyers to provide and maintain a strong, efficient supply chain to enable ECMS to meet customer expectations.
The Supply Chain Specialist will work with the Supply Chain Manager to maintain a strong relationship with internal teams including Engineering and Quality.
Responsibilities:
Project initiation and supplier selection:
Develop initial cost targets at project initiation and track performance against these targets.
Prepare the supply chain elements of new bid activities, often within short time periods.
Investigate low-cost solutions and make proposals to the Engineering team at the early design stage, to ensure these are reviewed and adopted if appropriate.
Complete due diligence checks and ensure suppliers have capability, capacity and are financial stable.
Complete the work necessary for initiation on systems including SAP.
Carry out supplier selection, developing new suppliers if appropriate.
Develop supplier base:
Work with the Supply Chain Manager to develop the supply base for technology development.
Develop relationships to strengthen the direct and indirect supply chain as necessary.
Negotiation and contract management:
Initiate and agree robust, workable contracts and pricing agreements via negotiations.
As appropriate develop Long Term Agreements (LTAs). Manage the application of the contracts terms to ensure suppliers meet requirements.
Communicate supply requirements to purchasing team:
Receive information from Engineering teams and translate this into purchasing requirements.
Ensure the effective communication of those requirements to the Purchasing team
Systems, data and analysis:
Use systems such as SAP to extract data and to report metrics as defined by the Supply Chain Manager.
Provide information to support supplier reviews for all key accounts.
Continuous improvement:
Work with Operations, Quality, Engineering and Supply Chain colleagues to further strengthen relationships with existing suppliers.
Identify and recommend opportunities for development and improvement. Develop a working knowledge of the technologies, processes, and materials relevant to the role, maintain an awareness of market developments and alternative supply bases and use this to make recommendations for change.
Support and where necessary lead the deployment of formal improvement opportunities.
Essential Requirements:
Technical background in electrical, electronic or mechanical engineering, preferably gained in an aerospace or high precision environment.
Demonstrates professional and credible communication with supplier, colleagues, and leaders.
Strong negotiation skills and demonstrable experience of managing and developing supplier relationships.
Uses analytical and numeracy skills to make decisions and to produce concise reports and effective presentations.
Proficient in the use of IT and able to leverage systems to provide data and reports for the benefit of the business.
Proven experience with ERP systems such as SAP or similar
Willingness to research, analyse and develop ideas and methods.
Excited by new developments and able to translate their knowledge into proposals for the organisation’s response.
Flexible and able to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplined team to tight deadlines.
Preferred Requirements:
Holds CIPS membership or relevant qualifications.
Additional information:
Ability to travel domestically and internationally (up to 10% of the time)
Driving licence preferred.
