About this role

This role contributes to assuring inherent security and the protection of BT Group’s brands and reputation as the cyber threat evolves,  alongside the activities of the Security Architecture, Design and Consultancy leadership team. 

This role is specifically responsible for security in our 3rd party Supplier Selection working closely with Business Sponsors, Architects and Procurement, ensuring supplier risks are understood within solutions and mitigations to those risks are costed into the whole life cycle costs of the selection process.

This is achieved by: robust security contractual controls, control metrics, contract gap analysis and remediation, enabling the business to understand the level of contractual risk in our 3rd Party Supply Chain (Risk 3); drive the procurement community to uplift 3rd party supplier contracts to latest security provision where gaps are identified; 

this includes ensuring the security schedule in BT Supplier contracts is aligned with ISO27001/2, BT Security Policy, NIST, ISF, the requirements of Data Protection Law and any other relevant legislation.

You'll have the following responsibilities

• Responsible for security assurance during Supplier Selection working closely with CFUs, Architects and Procurement; ensure supplier risks are understood within solutions and costs to mitigate risk are factored into commercial supplier security processes, and recommending security input into supplier RAPID decision making.
• Responsible for identification of BT’s Managed Security Suppliers, the most complex and impacting suppliers from a security perspective across BT Group. 
• Responsible for complex supply chain security risk assessments requiring niche skills and experience.
• Accountable  for maintaining a security schedule that meets and is aligned with current Industry standards, ensuring 3rd Party Suppliers have security frameworks with appropriate controls to protect BT’s Information and systems.
• Ensuring Procurement buyers follow agreed processes and that all contracts with 3rd parties contain appropriate security provision.
• Accountable for Monitoring and tracking progress of requested uplifts to 3rd party contracts.
• Where existing contracts are found to have reduced security provision that has not be authorised, liaise with procurement to uplift contract.

You'll have the following skills & experience

• Ability to communicate and influence: effective in influencing strategic direction at Senior Management level as well as with external partners/industry.
• Story-telling with data: strong skills in explaining complex situations and the need for change, drawing on data and analytical techniques where appropriate, communicating this to business audiences at project CTIO, Senior Management  and MD level. 
• Experience of stakeholder management and influencing skills at Senior Management level, dealing with complex issues and securing commitment to deliver secure but pragmatic services and solutions.
• You provide guidance and counsel on complex and unfamiliar situations, often involving risk and emotion.
• You act as a subject matter expert in identifying, assessing and responding to risks. You apply expert judgement to consider business opportunities and advise key decision makers so they take the right risks at the right time.
• Ability to negotiate strongly with external suppliers and progress a win-win scenario to minimise security risk for BT in our supply chain.
• A strong knowledge of supply chain security risk factors and ability to assess how they factor into wider solutions
• Ability to see through false veneer to understand true facts and status.
• Good understanding of industry standard risk control frameworks e.g. ISO 27001, NIST
• Good understanding of BT/EE security policies and standards.
