About the Role
The position of Operations Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of safety, performance, resourcing and team leadership for specified operational areas and/or operational processes. Reporting to the AM Operations Manager, this is a leadership position that has a particular focus on ensuring the consistent application of standards, attitudes and behaviour within the team environment, at line and peer group level.
Critical to this role is the ability to plan and coordinate daily activities and hold team members to account. Further this position plays an important role in achieving daily KPI’s and identifying / actioning process improvements, along with engaging support from other functional leads.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Report on safety incidents and ensure all injuries, incidents, near misses and hazards identified are reported
- Provide advice and guidance to operations regarding load restraint requirements in accordance with Toll and legal standards
- Facilitate 1 toolbox talk per week to ensure staff are adequately up to date with the business requirements & standards
- Ensure compliance with Dangerous goods policies and procedures but not limited to placardable loads, bulk loads, DG classes, DG load compatibility, and DG documentation
- Manage all internal correspondence in a prompt, thorough and professional manner via phone or email
- Ensure all reports are accurate and completed in a timely manner reflecting business performance
- Responsible and accountable for the forward planning and scheduling of RDOs / annual leave for the PM shift.
- Maintain a high standard of morale for forklift drivers and operations personnel by ensuring a harmonious and safe environment.
- Train staff in local procedures and in the use of handling equipment where required
- Ensure all training is documented and forwarded to the Safety team for record keeping
- At all times, ensure employees and contractors work in accordance with the established procedures and practices of the business.
- Ensure the workplace is safe and free from hazards and that all activities comply with State and Federal legislation, Occupational Health & Safety, Dangerous Goods Policies, Environmental and Company procedures and policies.
- Responsible in conjunction with AM Manager for site security.
- Other duties as deemed necessary by Management, day to day.
Qualifications

- 2 years’ experience in the transport industry
- Proven track record in the responsibilities listed above.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Commitment to customer satisfaction, both internal and external, responding to customers’ needs.
- Proven ability to build and maintain excellent relations with management, both internally and externally.
- Ability to visualise things from the eyes of the customer.
- Lateral thinker with hands-on attitude.
- A sound ability to work under pressure and autonomously without direction.
- Proven problem-solving ability with a solutions orientation
- Strong people management capability
