Location Rehearsals - Manchester City Centre

Tour - UK Wide

Type Self-employed contractor

Duration 11 weeks from 23rd August - 5th November 2021

Salary Total fee £4605 + holiday
Breakdown Rehearsals £1235 + holiday

Performances Â£3370 + holiday

Travel days, transport and accommodation for venues outside of the Northwest will be provided

Description
We’re looking for a Stage Manager to support the creation and delivery of a UK tour of a new play ‘The Killer Question’.

​

The role will involve:

  • supporting the director as required

  • set up and run rehearsal schedules

  • procure props, furniture and set dressings as required

  • liaise with designer to arrange costume and wig fittings as required

  • work closely with production manager, venues and technician

  • liaise with the production manager regarding production budget and costs

  • lead all 'get ins' and ‘get outs’

  • assist with quick change costume and make-up

  • compile and operate prompt copy, noting actors' moves and cues, and staging/prop requirements.

  • take charge of the show once is starts, running the backstage and onstage areas during performances

  • make sure that what is supposed to happen during a performance happens and handling any problems that occur

  • call actors for rehearsals and performances

  • ensure the company's welfare and maintain a good working knowledge of all relevant health and safety legislation and good working practice.

  • other duties as necessary

We’re looking for someone with:

  • A proven track record of stage managing theatrical productions.

  • Resilient disposition and ability to remain calm under pressure

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with performers, crew, venue teams and others

  • Good working knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation or a willingness to learn

  • Excellent time management, organisational and communication skills

  • Ability to prioritise workload effectively

  • Ability to work independently and to deadline

  • Excellent team working skills

  • Excellent problem-solving skills

  • A proactive and flexible approach

 

Useful

  • First aid qualification

  • Driving licence

  • Good understanding of sound, lighting and staging systems

  • Good understanding of power generation and distribution

  • Experience of touring
