The Sport Operations Coordinator undertakes a leadership role in coordinating the provision of sporting programs, initiatives and partnerships targeting students, staff, alumni and community. Specifically, the Coordinator will ensure that the University’s sporting program is coordinated across University, and integrates strategic technology and student facing initiatives that are first class and industry leading. This will be accomplished by providing strategic advice to the Sports Manager, managing a small team of staff, coordinating resources and ensuring strong collaborative relationships across the team and externally to achieve objectives.

The position will work within the Student Engagement and Sport team and across University with faculties and professional divisions to ensure sport offerings are cohesive and align with the strategies and action plans of sport at QUT. The position will also manages stakeholder relations external to the University including peak bodies, community organisations, State Government and various suppliers/partners of the University. This position reports to the Sports Manager for supervision, workload management and for Performance Planning and Review (PPR).

Key responsibilities include:

• In consultation with faculty and administrative divisions, develop a framework and action plan that underpins the QUT Sport strategy targeting broad participation and engagement in sporting initiatives by students, staff and the community.
• Lead a small team tasked with delivery social and recreational sports, representative and competitive events and programs within the University and externally in the community.
• Coordinate the provision of industry leading sporting programs which embrace new technologies that ignite cross-portfolio collaboration that meet the objectives of the wider sporting vision at the University.
• Management of external stakeholders relevant to sport at QUT (e.g. Australian University Sport, Australian Institute of Sport, National Sporting Organisations, PE Advisors, SIS/SAS representatives, Professional Players Associations, National Institute Network) including developing and managing partnership agreements with community sporting clubs to achieve portfolio KPI’s and objectives
• Develop and produce reports and evaluation tools to measure impact and inform continuous improvement to QUT’s sport program.
• Oversee the delivery of a high quality Elite Athlete and sport leadership program that aligns with AIS best practice and the objectives of sport at QUT.
• Coordinate and manage events, awards presentations, sporting facilities and student participation in competitive events.
• Compliance with health and safety policies, procedures, hazard reporting and safe work practices.
