Job Description

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), is responsible for establishing therapeutic relationships with patients and their families through specialized knowledge, skill and judgement, both in assessing speech/oral needs and in planning, implementing and evaluating SLP care plans. 

Reporting to the Manager, Allied Health, the SLP works within all areas of the hospital as required. 

HOURS:

The successful candidate must be available to work all tours applicable to the department. In addition, this position must be flexible to occasional changes in hours when required to meet the operational needs of the department and be able to commit to the non-availability standards outlined in the Collective Agreement.

 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech – Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO)
  • Clinical experience in acute in-patient care preferred
  • Experience in assessment, treatment and management of dysphagia and communication disorders preferred
  • Works collaboratively with inter professional team members
  • Demonstrates excellence in communication, both written and oral
  • Demonstrates excellence in problem analysis and goal setting
  • Innovative and willing to learn
  • Demonstrates individual leadership skills
  • Excellent ability to follow intervention programs designed and overseen by Speech Language Pathologists
  • Demonstrated acceptable previous performance record in alignment with STEGH's Mission, Vision, Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Excellent attendance record in accordance with STEGH’s Attendance at Work Program

 

Successful candidates must provide evidence of a fully completed COVID-19 vaccination status prior to your first day of work. Any candidate entering .the facility to attend an interview will be required to provide evidence of a fully completed COVID-19 vaccination status. To be considered fully immunized, individuals need to have received their second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days earlier than the date they are arriving to an interview or to begin work at STEGH.
