The opportunity

Our client, a Canadian-based global SaaS company, has a greenfield opportunity for a senior, hands-on Technical Architect. You will own the design and architecture for a new data lake. You will define and build the end-to-end technologies and processes to manage large, disparate, and complex data sets. As part of a global team of Architects, you will contribute to multiple projects, research new tools, and introduce best practices across the organization.

You have solid experience of data as a product and the systems that produce and underpin those products, including data lakes, data pipelines, governance, and analytics. You want to play a highly visible, senior technical role architecting data systems and products that are highly performant, scalable, and resilient.

The Technical Architect will:

• Be consulted for your technical expertise and relied upon to help evolve a leading-edge tech stack that includes Snowflake, Glue, Spark, Python, Tableau, Java, Angular, Node/JS, REST APIs, and the AWS ecosystem.
• Guide the creation, implementation, and ongoing evolution of a data lake, big data management systems, and data cloud products accounting for product and platform integrations; data object ID management; and external data flow, including API design.
• Ensure the tools, systems, and processes you architect are efficient and effective at gathering, cataloguing, transforming, and presenting large, disparate, and complex data sets.
• Advise on and ensure adherence to governance requirements and regulatory compliance in relation to data integrity, confidentiality, availability, lifecycle management, and retention.
• Promote best practices for data management.

• End-to-end expertise designing, architecting, and implementing large scale data management solutions and API-driven systems in a complex multi-source, multi-product/ team environment.
• In-depth, hands-on expertise across a broad range of software development and data management and visualization tools, including ETL, SQL, NoSQL, Python, AWS.
