Citi is a major player in the world’s financial markets and as such is involved in conducting millions of trading events every day. As part of our responsibilities to financial regulators, clients and ourselves, Citi uses computer systems to identify and prevent fraudulent, malicious or erroneous behavior relating to its trades and financial services. To assist in this area, the Citi Trade Surveillance UX team is developing a unified software framework for the management of alerts raised by suspicious or inappropriate activity derived from the analysis of various trading data sources and tools.

Team Overview:

The Trade Surveillance UX team has a need for a Principal Software Engineer/Tech Lead to provide technical leadership to the team, leading in adopting new technologies, better software design/methods and being a mentor and example to the whole team.

Responsibilities will include:

• Deliver trade surveillance Spring Boot Java and Angular/Angular JS software components which follow data driven configurations so they can be widely re-used and scaled

• Lead and set the technical direction for the team, work with the Work with business partners and Business Analysts (BA’s) to understand requirements, assist each team member to understand their particular work area and what’s required of them to meet the overall team project goals

• Assist with the provision of task breakdown and estimates

• Coordinate with project managers and support teams to agree and meet delivery targets

• Mentor team members locally and agree software and technology designs with the wider Development team leads

• Be the local problem solver for the team, assisting in solving technical issues, making design decisions, and finding answers to any of their questions and problems

• Provide production support that includes evaluate efforts, investigate cause and come up with solutions to address defects

• Lead by example in integrity, commitment, being customer and results focused, and being a key contributor in technical and performance problem solving

• Be a role model, help build up a highly productive, happy and motivated UX Software team

Required Skills:

• In-depth understanding and experience with Java Web Technologies and Web frameworks (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, or similar), UI and backend Database

• Deep knowledge/prior professional experience working with Angular/AngularJS and Bootstrap, or experience with one or more other JavaScript frameworks (JQuery, ExtJS)

• Experience in developing optimized DB table designs and queries

• Experienced in build tools Jenkins, Maven

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

• Flexible attitude and a motivated self-starter, proactive, takes responsibility and initiative

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience

• Master’s degree preferred
