About this role
You are responsible for the development and support of the systems that produce the MI critical to the operation of the business. You work collaboratively as a member of a team to refine requirements, design solutions, develop quality code, test, and deploy solutions. You will also assist the internal software release cycle as well as providing third line support to production systems. You are a role model for Engineers in the team with a responsibility to set a high bar for quality of craft. As part of this responsibility, you will provide regular technical and non-technical coaching.
As a technical expert, you continuously evaluate areas of technology, process, standards and policy that can be improved. You are a knowledge champion and seek every opportunity to share your experience across the department.
You will develop a good understanding of the needs of your customer and may be required to represent your team in meetings with stakeholders, contributing to their strategy and direction.
As a technology enthusiast you keep up to date with the latest developments in the IT industry and apply industry best practice to drive continuous improvement and innovation within BT.
You'll have the following responsibilities
Lead the design and delivery of large components of projects
Investigate and resolve problems
Contribute to planning, including sizing, prioritisation and capacity plans
Follow and pro-actively inspect processes and standards
Provide recommendations for improvement where possible
Continuously improve quality of products
Set the bar for quality within the team
Inspect and review the work of the team
Share knowledge through documentation and presentations
Provide coaching and mentoring to the team
Contribute to interviews as part of the recruitment process
Provide technical training to the department in fields of expertise
Develop working relationships and communicate with a range of project stakeholders across teams
