Software Engineering Manager - Digital Applications

What will you be doing?

Our digital channels are already used by millions of customers, yet we still have big plans for the future!  To help make this a reality we're looking for a talented and enthusiastic Engineering Manager to lead the Digital Engineering Applications team (MyVodafone App & TOBi) in our new Digital Hub in London, bringing with you a broad range of experiences and a passion for modern development technologies and practices. As our Engineering Manager you'll lead our application engineering squads, with the autonomy to drive technical excellence, delivery, and cultural/behavioural changes to help create an environment where tech teams thrive!

In this role you’ll be part of the Application Engineering Leadership team, reporting to the Head of Application Engineering and will lead the development teams that build our customer facing application experiences. 

Who are we looking for?

• Proven track record leading & motivating engineering teams with an in-depth understanding of the technologies, processes and architecture required for delivering high quality digital apps & services at scale.
• Robust knowledge of at least one of the following major languages Java, Kotlin, Swift in an application context along with associated design best practices.
• An enthusiastic interest in modern development practice, tooling, technology and techniques.
• Ability both communicate to senior stakeholders & engage at the developer level.
• Strong all-round skills, willing to get involved in every stage of the software development lifecycle.
• Operational experience of large scale cloud-hosted solutions with challenging expectations of security, availability and performance.
• Exceptionally self-motivated, pro-active and effective in an entrepreneurial environment.
