The Azure Global Commercial Industry (AGCI) team within Azure Engineering builds platforms & services that enable our industry customers to transform, innovate and delight their customers. We work with customers and partners (ISVs, SIs, and startups) in the Retail, Consumer Goods, Financial Services, Energy, Agri-Food, Logistics, Media, Entertainment & Gaming industries to not only help them be successful on Azure but also develop industry specific products that enable their digital transformation. 

Responsibilities

This AGCI Software Engineer role includes the following core responsibilities: 

• In partnership with strategic customers and ISVs, building differentiated industry products and services on the Azure platform. 

• Contributing to the incubation, development, preview and production implementation of 1st party Industry Platform as a Service products to meet the needs of our strategic industry customers and partner ecosystem. 
• Collaboration with other Azure engineering teams to identify requirements and support feature development to create an amazing end-to-end Azure experience for our industry customers & partners. 
• Translating learnings from engagements to scenario-led engineering feedback to improve the Azure platform. 
• Developing repeatable patterns, including creation and publishing of content and code across multiple internal and external platforms.

Due to the technical breadth of this role, we do not have specific required technical qualifications. It is more important to us that you enjoy, and are capable of, learning new depth skills based on demand! However, some examples of relevant skills that we value include: 

• Azure, AWS or GCP experience 
• Kubernetes 
• Linux administration 

• Scripting such as Bash or PowerShell 
• Any development experience such as .Net, Java, Go, JavaScript or Python 
• Database design or administration 
• Data analysis or engineering 
• Infrastructure automation such as ARM or Terraform 

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: 

• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
