This is your opportunity to be at the center of the action of a team of PMs and Engineers that are passionate about the value and promise of analytics across the world. You’ll be focused on building out and supporting a federated data mart, which brings together data from different sources into a unified and performant architecture, which can support both ad-hoc analytics and be a foundation of analytical models, reports, and dashboards.

We are looking for a motivated, highly entrepreneurial self-driven data expert engineer who is comfortable with ambiguity in a dynamic environment, can work independently with new technologies, and also be able to work with others on the specifications of the work to be delivered.  A person who can develop and operate an agile solution to our data needs, while also “dogfood” our products providing feedback to our engineering team.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build out a federated datamart based on the latest Synapse technologies empowering ad-hoc analytics and supporting our tabular models using SQL dedicated pools, SQL on-demand and Synapse SPARK.
  • Define and orchestrate data intakes and virtual connections to telemetry data withing our engineering teams as well as data from other teams which are relevant for our businesses.
  • Define processes to ensure data quality, compliance, and availability.
  • Set up and manage Azure resources. Define access policies and processes. Ensure optimal usage while controlling costs.
  • While having a main responsibility and ownership of the analytics data mart, work together with other members of the team, and be able to jump in on rotation on other parts of analytics infrastructure (tabular models, Power BI Reports)
  • Work in a v-team with other data professionals in the Intelligence Platform organization and the bigger Business Application Group to align on common data sharing and usage strategies.
  • Be ready to dogfood our own products. Working together with engineering peers on implementing early access technologies, while providing continuous feedback on product features and performance.
  • Defining and working in a devops environment for being able to manage and control code development and code changes.
  • Have flexibility in working hours on being on-call and working together with our vendor team in India.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in the field of engineering or computer science or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience working with or designing/building out data marts or data warehouses or big data environments
  • 3+ years of experience with writing and optimizing T-SQL code and optimizing performance with Microsoft Database technologies.
  • 1+ years of experience with setting up Azure resources and operating Azure services

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of data orchestration – hands on experience with Azure Data Factory.
  • Experience on working with Azure DevOps and git repositories.
  • Knowledge of Cosmos or Azure Data Lake Analytics – U-SQL
  • Knowledge and experience with JIT
  • C# programming knowledge
  • Experience with big data technologies – knowledge of SPARK, Azure Databricks, HDInsight
  • Power BI development and operational knowledge
  • Tabular modeling and DAX experience
