We work on the cutting edge of distributed messaging systems, where milliseconds latency, massive throughput and 99.99% service availability aren’t tradeoffs – they’re all necessary! Our infrastructure needs to be resilient enough for financial transactions, rapid enough for streaming and gaming applications, and still nimble enough to move many petabytes of data per day.

We’re looking for a dedicated, creative distributed systems expert to build the next-generation platform layer on top of which all of Azure Messaging will run. You will have an opportunity to work on highly impactful components that will fundamentally change the core fabric of our services. Your focus will be on architecting solutions to help us build out clusters in seconds and solving distributed systems problems that will help us achieve our next stage of growth.

Responsibilities

Your core responsibilities would include:

• Leading development on features from the front, driving the development lifecycle for ambitious features from prototype/inception all the way to widespread customer adoption.
• Generating software specifications, proof-of-concepts, and prototype solutions given high level feature requirements.
• Working closely with team members to unblock each other and share learnings and knowledge.
• Using data and telemetry to improve feature work and propose feature improvements to existing products.
• Working in constant communication with customers and stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• 3+ years of shipping production services with C#, Java, or equivalent language
• Solid CS fundamentals, including fluency with multithreaded and asynchronous programming

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

• Previous experience working on cloud providers, such as Azure, AWS, or GCP
• Familiarity with containerization technologies, including Service Fabric or Kubernetes
• Comfortable and enthusiastic about working in a complex product space with ambiguous challenges
• Ability to derive creative and innovative solutions by thinking ‘outside of the box’
• Proven track record of delivering ambitious projects
• Strong inclination for architecting at scale
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to implement design specifications in code with high fidelity
• Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills that drive compelling conversations and clear presentations
