Azure Big Data team (Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure HDInsight, Azure Stream Analytics, Azure Datalake Analytics, Azure Databricks and Cosmos) present exciting challenges in technologies such as big-data, cloud, distributed computing, artificial intelligence, storage and open-source. We build reliable, highly scalable and highly performing distributed systems for data analytics on Azure. Azure HDInsight is one of the fastest growing Azure services that offers popular open source technologies, such as Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, HBase and many others in a form that is easy for customers to use. We work with various open-source technologies including Spark, Hadoop, Yarn, etc. and make contributions to these technologies. We are running one of the world’s largest Big Data cluster which has more than 25,000 machines, stored more than 10,000PB data and run tens of thousands of jobs everyday across search, ads, Office, Xbox, etc. Azure Stream Analytics is an event-processing engine that allows users to examine high volumes streaming data at scale. We are supporting massively parallel complex streaming processing in Azure.  

For this role, we seek passionate engineer to lead the creation of innovative new UX for intelligent analytics and modern workspace, which we believe it is underserved by existing Big Data offerings. 

Responsibilities

As an engineer, you have the opportunity to work on the latest technology in Big Data area and build world class Big Data Analytics experience for cloud customers: 

• Design and build world-class experience for new Big Data cloud offering in both browser and desktop. 
• Work closely with partners in UX & UI design, product manager, program manager and engineers through product feature development life cycle. 

• Demonstrate technical leadership by identifying and filling gaps and writing high-quality code. 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:  

• BS/MS degree in Computer Science/Engineering/Mathematics 
• 3+ years of industry software engineering experience 

• Strong expertise in web application, JavaScript, Typescript, HTML, CSS and at least one popular web frontend framework like React/Vue/Angular or equivalent 
• Passion on delivering modern high-performance user experience in both browser and desktop 

  

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Expertise in building scalable web application and reusable modules 

• Familiar with frontend test framework, build pipelines and tools 
• Experience in backend service design and development, web API, MVC design pattern, etc. 
• Well understanding of Internet protocols: TCP/IP, HTTP, WebSocket and demonstrated web performance tuning skills 
• Experience with open source components like Spark and Hadoop ecosystem as a plus 
• Great curiosity and willingness to question  

• High enthusiasm, integrity, ingenuity, results-orientation, self-motivation, and resourcefulness in a fast-paced competitive environment
