Job Description

OneDrive is looking for a Software Engineer who is passionate about building large scale services supporting innovative experiences focued on the enjoyment of photo collections by individuals and groups of people. If you are passionate about photos, sharing memories with others and building new products that will have lasting impact on the industry, this is role for you. This is an opportunity to join the development of a new product concept in its early days and work with a team which fosters a culture of learning and collaboration.

Hundreds of millions of people depend on OneDrive to store their most important files for work, home, and school. We are a diverse team of developers, creatives, data scientists and program managers delivering a full spectrum of software and services from incubation and envisioning right through to software development, customer delivery and service operations. 

Responsibilities

Working with a team of talented engineers, you will be responsible for driving the development of major service to support multi-faceted application. You will have the opportunity to develope engineering best-practices and mentor other engineers. You will collaborate with project managers, data scientists, designers and other engineers to gather requirements and inform your feature design. In this role you will be expected to model objective and critical thinking and strike a balance between performance, quality, and speed of development. 

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 2 years distributed services development or equivalent 
  • 3+ years of experience with C++, C#, Go, Python, or equivalent 
  • A good grasp on API design, algorithms, and data structures 
  • A BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent experience 
  • Strong understanding of Git  
  • Excellent debugging skills  
  • Passion for crafting elegant code  
  • Highly self-motivated and independent  
  • Legally permitted to work in Canada 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Experience integrating with cloud services  
  • Experience resolving build infrastructure issues  
  • Experience handling media data such as images or videos  
  • Basic understanding of SQL-like database 
  • Amateur photographer / fan of photography / photos enthusiast
