Randstad Aotearoa is excited to partner with our trusted client once again. We are now seeking a progressive leader for the position of Software Development Manager. This leadership position will be situated in ÅŒtautahi (Christchurch) NZ however this role will oversee and empower cross functional development teams for this global brand across the APAC region.
MŠte tūnga | The role
This position will be responsible for our global clients core platforms. The Head of Software Development will work closely with senior members of the global business and will directly report into the CTO. In addition to the previously mentioned responsibilities, this position will also oversee the delivery of a substantial piple of strategic projects which inturn will support the organisation's wider technology strategy.
Additional responsibilities you’ll oversee include
- Establish and maintain world-class standards around the engineering team, and implement agile working practices and tools that enable the delivery of consistent, high-quality software releases across global teams
- Implement internal engineering management strategies to improve productivity and effectiveness of sizing and allocation of work to teams
- Collaborate with Product Managers and regional leads to manage scope and deliverables; ensure objectives align and the appropriate resources and capabilities are in place to deliver on product roadmaps
- Reshape and transform existing Software Engineering teams and engineers into a highly effective engineering organisation through empowerment, coaching and mentoring; upgrade and reorganise talent as needed

- This position requires an experienced leader who has a wealth of experience leading and empowering software development teams across diverse industry sectors.
- You will ideally bring a natural and proven ability to foster the existing culture of innovation and creativity. Not only will you foster this culture, you will also have a desire to build on this existing culture that your predecessors have helped create and cultivate.
- Having a broad understanding and an interest in multiple tech stacks, architecture, cloud infrastructure and emerging technologies
- It will come as no surprise, but having excellent verbal and written communication skills are critical for this position.
- Experience with building high-performance teams and scalable agile best-practices will be advantageous.
- This role requires a leader who has come from a technical background experience working with technologies such as C#, .Net, .Net core, Java (Spring), JavaScript (react, node), PHP, JSON, Swift, Oracle, REST, and Developing API’s is important.
- We are looking for a leader who is comfortable and experienced in leading multidisciplinary teams which should then drive our clients organisation towards a high standard of excellence, resulting in increased visibility, consistency of delivery, agile working practices, and development of our next generation digital platform.
