We are looking for a Software Development Manager (SDM) to lead the teams delivering the Prime Video native porting development and integration work on leading platforms such as Android TV, Roku and Comcast.
You will be heading up a team in the Prime Video Ports department, responsible for the Prime Video experience on these platforms. You will obsess about how delight our customers and deliver new features and capabilities that make best use of the platforms.

As the SDM you will play a critical role in shaping the product definition, design, roadmap, and development of the PVP teams. You will lead:

* Hiring, retaining, and growing top engineering talent within your group.
* Be a clear technical voice, working in partnership with your teams to deliver an architecture which will scale with the needs of both Prime Video and wider Amazon businesses.
* Delivering software to meet the roadmap, using agile SW development practices
* Leading complex cross-functional projects with tight deadlines
* Owning the operational excellence for the platforms, addressing customer issues and ensuring that customers have a great experience when using Prime Video on their device
* Interacting with and influencing external partners such as Google, Roku and Comcast.


Key job responsibilities
Build and nurture a team of software engineers including their projects, performance, and career growth

Clearly communicate product delivery roadmaps with your team, management, and principal stakeholders

Work with peer managers to determine scope and estimate development effort

Shape team goals by developing a deep understanding of our customer's business processes and success criteria


Develop and execute a long-term architecture while balancing short term commitments


Work closely with the team to architect and develop the best technical design and approach to solve complex problems


About the team
The Prime Video application is currently present on hundreds of millions of individual living room devices across the world. These include smart TVs, streaming media players, pay TV set top boxes, and game consoles. The Partner Engineering team provides the capabilities that help device manufacturers seamlessly get it there.

We also support partners to integrate all the latest PV features on their devices to ensure our customers receive the best possible Prime Video app experience.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience working directly within engineering teams.
· Experience partnering with product OR program management teams
· People management experience, managing engineers.
· Experience architecting and designing (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
· Experience managing software engineering teams and developing technical direct reports (performance review communication, accountability, motivation/engagement)
· Experience of system design, architecture, and problem solving skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.
· Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
· Experience designing software architectures for scalability, reliability and performance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience of delivery of software for consumer electronic devices, including the full software lifecycle

Experience of developing with Java, Android, Javascript, C++, iOS/tvOS, Rust and WebAssembly.

Experience with CI/CD processes

Domain experience in embedded, SoC and native software including C++ and Linux.
