Within Amazon video, the Prime Video Promotions team builds the technology to provide personalized promotional offers to tens of millions of Amazon customers every year. Having released a number of highly successful core features in the last two years, the team is now focusing on promotion optimization using ML models to ensure that our customers are presented with the most relevant and engaging offers in the market.

Key job responsibilities
You will work as part of one of our small Agile teams, launching and growing new initiatives for Amazon's global business. As an engineer, you can be involved in every aspect of the process - from idea generation, business analysis and technical design through to development and deployment across a variety of technologies - giving you a real sense of ownership. Together we build systems which meet high standards of performance and reliability and operate at massive scale.

About the team
We are looking for Software Development Engineers to join the Prime Video Promotions team. We own the promotions experience for Prime Video customers, studios and partners – on all devices, globally. We enable promotions capabilities and continually improve promotions customer experience across customer-facing pages. We work alongside business teams to influence promotion campaign launches and to drive incremental customer acquisition and engagement using promotions. We optimize the promotions to provide our customers the most relevant and engaging offers in the market.

Candidates will have an understanding of stable, scalable systems that have been successfully deployed in a business setting. You will be passionate about technology with a focus on the customer experience and great teamwork. You will gain exposure to innovations in deep learning and reinforcement learning systems. The ideal candidate combines expertise in software engineering with interest in machine-learning systems.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
· Bachelor's degree in computer science related fields OR equivalent experience in software development

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience building open source, commercial, or personal projects
· Knowledge of one or more scripting languages
· Experience building on AWS using S3, EC2, DynamoDB, Lambda, SNS, SQS, API Gateway, etc.
· Experience using software version control tools
· Experience in building large-scale machine-learning infrastructure for recommendation, ads ranking, personalization, or search, etc.
· Experience designing and deploying Big Data pipelines with tools such as AWS, Hadoop, Spark or MapReduce.
