With hundreds of millions of users using Office365 services, a huge amount of data is generated every day. Data is mission critical for Office365 services. It helps engineering teams to understand the quality of live services, generate insights of feature usage and user behavior, troubleshoot bugs and issues. It also offers better visibility to product and management teams on business impacts, empowers products and scientist teams to build intelligence features.

M365 Big Data Team has lots of investments in different data related areas to support the continuous growth of business needs from Office365. We are hiring software engineers for below two sub-teams in both Beijing and Suzhou office.

1. Office Data Loader Team - This team builds the hyper-scale distributed data ingestion service for entire Office 365 organization. The team plays an important role to the whole O365 data platform. We focus on providing highly reliable, efficient service using modern telemetry and intelligent solutions. We build features to support different kinds of business requirements. At the same time, we spend huge amount of effort to build infrastructure to make sure data ingestion can meet privacy and compliance requirements.

2. Service Operation and Telemetry Standardization Team - This team focuses on service operation and telemetry data standardization. We look into how telemetry is being generated, collected and consumed across all M365 workloads and collaborate with M365 teams to standardize telemetry infrastructure. We build solutions to simplify data onboarding and maintenance experience, enforce compliance and privacy requirements during data processing, generate insights to help to reduce telemetry COST and engineering efforts, deliver insights to empower data discovery. Our mission is to increase the value of the data while at the same time taming the complexity and high cost of capturing, managing, and leveraging it.

Responsibilities

1. Build and standardize high quality, performant, reliable and cost-effective distributed data ingestion services across M365 workload teams.

2. Analyze and drive big data infrastructure COST optimization for all M365 teams.

3. Work with Trust teams to drive standardization and enforcement efforts across M365 to meet Compliance & Privacy regulations.

4. Design and build highly efficient, aggregated, cost-effective data pipelines to generate high-value data insights to benefit service quality improvements and COST saving.

5. Responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of big data infrastructure and ensure quality of service.

Qualifications

1. Solid coding skills (No language restrictions).

2. Solid Computer Science fundamentals.

3. Solid problem analysis and solving skills.

4. Strong communication skills. (Good written English, Avg+ oral English)

5. Passionate to solve hard problems.

6. Passionate to learn new skills/knowledge.

7. Knowledge and experience of distributed systems, large-scale big data platform technologies are a plus.

8. Knowledge and experience of performance tuning is a plus.

9. Knowledge and experience of data privacy is a plus.
