About this role
The UK (small and medium business) SME market is a fast-moving, high volume segment that we address with a variety of sales channels each serving a distinctive purpose. SME in this context considers 6-250 employee companies.
The commercial and proposition team for SME is responsible for setting and delivering the business plan for the segment by creating the right portfolio and the right commercial/trading plan to deliver the business and customer outcomes to win in the market and grow the business profitably.
A commercial role in SME requires a great understanding of our customers, our competitors and the market to determine how we win in the market with brilliant commercial plans. We are looking for individuals who will own and chase the key targets and orchestrate the rest of the business to support the commercial interventions and campaigns necessary.
This role will own and evolve the multi-product commercial deal pricing and P&L logic to maximise our trading performance.
You'll have the following responsibilities
People: Effectively providing direction to a virtual team – building momentum and confidence around this area of the business
interfaces effectively into sales and commercial teams, and back into the channel management and customer solution delivery teams.
Linking effectively into longer term transformation programmes such as the one setting up the future SME operating model.
The Insight: understanding customer needs, market position, competitors, our sales channel capabilities, trends, anticipating and mitigating threats. Keeping constant pulse on what’s happening in the market – including competitor offers and win/loss analysis.
Multi-product commercial deal pricing and P&L logic:
Ensuring the pricing and commercial model in the multi-product deal tools delivers the best customer and commercial outcomes.
Ensure that most deals still go through via self-serve from the sales teams and the deal support teams are well equipped for the more complex deals they need to sign off.
Support our move from a product siloed commercial deal model to multi-product commercial deal model in the deal tools.
Direct impact on trading and customer outcomes for the segment: measurable in sales, churn, ARPU and GM metrics.
Deliver MTP commitments: Accountable for delivering trajectory of improved commercial performance related to multi-product deals.
Work with relevant sales and commercial teams: To deliver a fit for purpose set of commercial logic that all stakeholders understand and can use effectively to win in the market.
You'll have the following skills & experience
Is able to clearly explain what they want and is skilled at holding people to account.
To lead by example, holding people to the highest standards but with respect, humility and integrity.
Deep understanding of UK telco market and segments.
Business case and commercial understanding of deal tool P&L dynamics.
Engaging, presenting to and influencing stakeholders at all levels from MD to managerial across multiple areas.
