The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our team here at Robson & Prescott, Morpeth Whorral Bank Hospital! Your job will be split between the main hospital site and one branch surgery. The 4-day week rota is fixed ensuring continuity to clients and staff. Most working days are between 8.30-6 pm. Occasional evening shifts will be rewarded with time off during the day. The out of hours work is all based at our main hospital in Morpeth. We are staffed 24/7 with nurses on site. OOH shifts included a weeknight every other week and weekend work on a rota shared between all staff. The weekends are shared between 3 on-call vets.

About Us

Our purpose-built main hospital is based on the outskirts of Morpeth.
We have a lovely facility with huge waiting room, 6 consult rooms, laboratory, cat, dog, small mammal, and exotics wards. We have 4 large operating theatres with separate radiography, dental and ultrasound suites. We also have an onsite hydrotherapy unit. Our equine and farm departments are based out of the main hospital making it a busy and sociable workplace. We are a supported by a large and dedicated staff
of nurses, nursing assistants, reception and a hydrotherapist. We have
7 branches based across Northumberland. We are located about 15 minutes north of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in a beautiful market town. We are 10 minutes from amazing beaches, hills, castles, shopping, and nightlife - all of which add to the social lives of our staff and help achieve that all important work life balance. We aim to provide a supportive and progressive working environment to allow the right candidate to excel.

We have 25 vets, 22 vet nurses working to complete our varied caseload. We have certificate holders in exotics, surgery, medicine, cardiology and behaviour to support and encourage development in the team. The right candidate will benefit from using these supportive and knowledgeable staff to develop their skillset or to add additional breadth to our senior vet team. We have our own R&P social group who organise events for fun and charity throughout the year. Our team is very close and the working day is filled with plenty of laughs and pizza!

Applicant Requirements

We require a small animal vet to join us. We are able to accommodate either a senior vet wishing to develop their skill-set or a younger vet wishing to benefit from access to experienced, knowledgeable and supportive vets. You will need to enjoy working as part of a team and also be able to do some branch work as the sole vet (a receptionist and at least one nurse will always be present). The benefit of our large team is that we can tailor this role to suit the correct candidate; either consulting based, or surgical roles can be created.
