As a Senior Web Developer, you will have the opportunity to design and implement software applications using a wide range of technologies to drive our products forward. You will also have the opportunity to work with User Experience Designers, Technical Architects, Delivery Managers and Product Managers to influence the future of BBC iPlayer, and make it the indispensable video destination!

Role Responsibility

The Ideal Candidate

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Expertise in building engaging and performant UIs (e.g. CSS and animations)
  • Building modern web applications that run in the Cloud (we use ReactJS, NodeJS and AWS but open to experience with other similar technologies)
  • Establishing and promoting best practices within teams
  • Being flexible, and comfortable adapting to changing priorities
  • Being curious, kind and a great team-worker

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Learning new software skills and working with new technologies
  • Working and collaborating in cross-discipline teams
  • Developing software with Redux or similar state managers
  • Developing software with security and accessibility in mind
  • Developing software using TDD/BDD techniques
  • Working with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or similar
  • Developing for NGINX or similar reverse proxies
