Job Description

About us

Transport for NSW keeps our State moving by providing safe, integrated and efficient transport systems. We put our customers at the centre of everything we do – and we do a lot. We connect people, communities and industry and manage how they use our road, rail and maritime networks and services, and even active modes like walking and cycling. The work we do connects the journeys you take every day.

We are a state government organisation made up of more than 28,000 people and we're in the middle of delivering the largest transport infrastructure program in Australia's history. We work across planning, policy and procurement, harnessing data and technology to develop smarter and more adaptive transport solutions.

That means job opportunities in metropolitan and regional areas right across NSW – you have the chance to be part of creating a lasting legacy that will benefit generations to come.

The Division

The Greater Sydney Division is redefining integrated transport choices to improve the lives of customers and communities, making Greater Sydney a better place to live, work and play. We have the single biggest place making opportunity at Transport in the coming years, reshaping Greater Sydney into a metropolis of three cities – Eastern Harbour City, Central River City and Western Parklands City - whilst also overseeing the Greater Sydney region as a whole.

The Opportunity

Right now, we have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Transport Operation Planner (Permanent Full Time) based in the Major Events, Customer Journey Planning (CJP) team within the Greater Sydney Division.

Working as a part of a small, specialised team, this role will see you formulate traffic and transport management plans for use by Transport for NSW in response to major events to achieve the goals of safe and successful events while minimising the impacts to the non-event community without compromising work health and safety standards.

What you will be involved in:

Work cooperatively within a team, exchange information and assist other team members to achieve team objectives and work outcomes.

Create, assess and coordinate multimodal end to end transport plan for major events in Greater Sydney and contribute towards TfNSW customer objectives

Ensure ongoing and consistent development and maintenance of traffic management plans for special events, emergency management, road incidents and major projects through regular consultation with stakeholders and other government agencies.

Work collaboratively with various external and internal stakeholders and represent TfNSW interests and values.

Contribute to continuous improvement processes by providing input into policies and procedures relevant to the section and provide training for staff and other stakeholders during the planning processes.

Ensure improvement of the plans and planning process through assisting the CJP operations staff during major planned events and major unplanned incidents by participating in the event/incident evaluation and debriefing process

You will be someone who thrives in a fast-paced, complex environment, ideally with an understanding or knowledge of the road and transport network and traffic management tools and techniques.
