About the team:
The Infrastructure and Place division is in the process of delivering a once-in-a generation multi-billion dollar program of public infrastructure works which will ease congestion, improve safety, create new places and connect communities for generations to come. We are dedicated and passionate team that is proud of the work we do and the supportive and flexible team culture we have built.
The Systems Engineering and Integration unit within the Technical Services Branch provides specialised engineering services for the multi-modal delivery, operations and management of our Transport network. Working within a mature matrix structure, we are the centre of technical expertise driving innovation and best practice.
The opportunity:
Due to the unprecedented scale of investment in the Transport for NSW Future Transport strategy we have a range of Temporary permanent opportunities (up to 2026) for Systems Engineers & Senior Systems Engineers to be part the Technical Service’s team.
Are you a developing, or a seasoned Systems Engineer? Do you live and breathe systems thinking? Do you have experience applying Systems Engineering on multi-modal transport projects (rail, road, maritime), but maybe also on defence or aerospace programs? Do you want to a part of building NSW transport infrastructure and make your mark on flagship multi-modal transport projects such as Great Western Highway Upgrade, Fast Rail, M6 Motorway, Parramatta Light Rail, Warringah Freeway Upgrade or More Trains More Services?
The role provides System Engineering services and advice and responds to requests for support in relation to systems engineering requirements associated with multiple projects across Transport. The role is a technical lead role that supports program and project design to facilitate the development and delivery of solutions that meet the customer’s needs.

About you:
You will have tertiary qualifications in a related discipline or equivalent experience with significant, proven capabilities in Systems Engineering.
Ideally you will have a background in the rail or road transportation sector and be well versed in System Engineering principles and tools. However, experience applying Systems Engineering in other safety and mission critical sectors (eg. defence, aerospace) will also be highly regarded.
Key Systems Engineering activities you will support include:
System Engineering consultancy and support to the program/project teams and their respective AEO contractors
Contributing to the development of key Systems Engineering artefacts in the early phases of projects including ConOps, OCD, MCD, BRS, SRS
Managing the quality and traceability of requirements in contemporary tools (eg. DOORS Next Generation)
Supporting Verification and Validation (V&V) activities
Implementing Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
Conducting due diligence reviews of AEO Suppliers’ deliverables
Essential requirements
Appropriate tertiary qualifications or demonstrated relevant, equivalent professional experience
Salary and Benefits
Transport Grade 8 ($120,423 - $134,872) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
Transport Grade 9 ($138,670 - $155,309) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
