Our client, one of the largest providers of bespoke staircases, handrails, and balustrades in New Zealand is looking for a Senior Stair and Handrail Maker to join their growing business.

Reporting to the Production Manager, the successful candidate will be setting out, machining, fabricating, assembling, and installing stairs, handrails and balustrade, and other joinery items in a timely manner and in accordance with company quality standards and all appropriate regulations while maintaining a safe environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Setout and methodically craft bespoke stairs
• Setout and methodically craft bespoke handrail components
• Cutting and machining
• Assembly & Installing
• Fixing of hardware
• Assistance with dispatch and/or deliveries
• Carry out stock-takes as required
• Provide accurate and on-time job records and other information to the office in line with company procedures

Key Skills and Attributes:

• Acceptable previous industry experience and /or have a qualification in stair-making, joinery, cabinet making, or carpentry
• Good technical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication, listening and record-keeping skills
• Must be able to visualize in three dimensions
• Must be able to work with precision
• Current driver’s license
• Good mathematical skills
• Skills to prepare clear instructions (including diagrams) and job and safety reports in verbal and written form
