About the team
Regional, Delivery & Safety (RDS) IT support three Transport Divisions; Safety, Environment and Regulation, Infrastructure & Place and Regional and Outer Metropolitan. Our purpose is to enable our clients to innovate, scale and achieve outcomes through faster and more effective delivery of business applications and IT services.
Our team leverages Human Centred Design methodologies and tools to design solutions on digital transformation and innovation projects. We use a progressive ethos in the team that's not found in traditional business structures - giving a unique advantage over the rest to make greatness happen.
The opportunity
Right now, we have an ongoing full-time opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Digital Products and Technology team.
The role is a hands-on technical role which delivers reliable data, software and platform components, whilst continuously developing and assessing the systems to keep abreast of new technologies and applying this knowledge to new and existing related systems to meet organisational objectives. You will be involved in:
Providing full stack expertise and develop solutions to ship complex products, self-directs according to business needs, works across groups, improves team productivity to meet delivery objectives
Recommending and delivering modern technologies to uplift user experience and enhance technical aspects of the product.
Demonstrate ownership and accountable for solution design and deliver green field projects
Defining and implementing software development standards and practices to improve productivity
Analysing and evaluating both functional and non-functional user requirements to convert and create quality products
Mentoring, guiding, and collaborating with other engineers
Participating in collaboration workshops to discuss projects, brainstorm ideas, and put forward solutions to any issues
Influencing and delivering quality software by conducting peer reviews, debugging and testing, using suitable tools for diagnosing and rectifying issues, and support application software releases and development updates to guarantee performance, functionality and reliability objectives are met.

About you
At your core you are a person with passion - for hands-on approach to solving problems, for working with people, and for learning and exploring emerging technologies.
You're a hands-on Full-stack developer who is passionate about the future of their field with well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
You're a strong team player, experience in Agile/scrum team operations and come with a positive 'can-do' attitude for when the going gets tough - the tough get going.
In addition to the above, you will have experience in:
AWS cloud services (Lambda, API Gateway, AWS RDS PostgreSQL, S3)
Serverless Framework
Git / Bitbucket
React / Angular
PostgreSQL / DynamoDB
REST API / Micro services / Graphql
Salary and benefits
The salary for this position is Grade 9A ($138,670) - 9E ($155,309) per annum plus 10% superannuation and leave loading.
