We are looking for an experienced candidate who is passionate about building high quality and reliable data processing systems in the cloud. You will be a feature owner where you will engage with business and engineering stakeholders to get help define requirements, come up with architectural design and documentation, code reviews, solve complex coding problems, and mentor junior team members.

• Design and build robust large-scale streaming, batch processing pipelines and back-end services.
• Lead by example and drive the evolution of the data platform team by identifying and/or anticipating system challenges and proposing solutions.
• Collaborate with engineers and product management to build optimized and forward-looking data products that enable insights to drive the business forward.
• Adjust positively to quickly changing priorities and shifting goals.
• Experiment with and recommend new technologies that simplify or improve the tech stack.
• Mentor and work with team members on architecture design reviews, code reviews and implementation.
• Strive for continuous improvement of code quality and development practices.

Qualifications

Essential qualifications

• BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent work experience
• 7+ years of experience in backend service and big data area
• Expertise in big data technologies like Spark, Kafka, Flink, Hadoop, HBase, CosmosDB, Cassandra, MongoDB, etc.
• Architecting, building, and maintaining high throughput distributed data systems and their supporting services.
• Hands on experience in any Object-Oriented coding language such as C++, C#, Java or Python.
• Using profiling tools, debugging logs, performance metrics and other data sources to make code and application-level improvements.
• Experience with frameworks for CI/CD, monitoring, testing, and alerting for data and services.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Experience with cloud computing fundamentals and building applications using cloud managed services.
• Experience working in Agile development processes.


Preferred qualifications

• Experience with or interested in contributing to open-source community.
• Experience in DevOps to maintain live services and\or application frameworks.
• Azure cloud experience highly desirable.
