Azure Cosmos DB allows you to elastically scale both throughput and storage across any number of geographical regions with tunable consistency while providing blazing fast read /write performance backed by enterprise grade SLAs.

One of the unique features of Azure Cosmos DB is its multi-model APIs which allows developers to develop new/migrate existing applications using popular open-source (OSS) APIs like MongoDB, Cassandra, Gremlin etc. giving it a unique edge.  The team behind the multi-model APIs is now looking for passionate and technically strong engineers to help it to succeed on wide adoption and expansion of these APIs. 

Responsibilities

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be a key player across all areas of the engineering lifecycle, including understanding requirements from actual customers, defining the scope of feature set, building the right experience through, and sustaining it through its maturity.  The ideal candidate should demonstrate the following skills:

• End to end ownership of a feature/area/OSS database API from design to execution
• Proven track record of design/ implementation/debugging and monitoring of business-critical services at scale
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across multiple teams to drive cross-functional results.
• Ability to deal with ambiguity and go above and beyond to understand intricate details of products.
• Coaching and mentoring other engineers
• Deep customer empathy

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of proven experience in building and shipping production software or services

Preferred Qualifications:

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent
• Experience with any existing open source api stack like Cassandra/Redis/MongoDB is a huge plus
• Experience in large scale data movement, ETL services is a plus
• Experience in Java/Python/Node/Go
• Proficiency with C# and/or Java, C, C++
• Familiarity with concurrent/multi-threaded programming, good understanding of algorithms and distributed systems
