Senior Software Engineer

Location: London, Speechmark office, Southwark (Full-time remote working during COVID-19)
Salary: Ã‚£Competitive
Hours: 37.5 Monday - Friday

As a Senior front end engineer at Vodafone your primary responsibility is to develop and support our front end web applications: ensuring that they are operational, performant and of the highest quality. As a technical leader you will have ability to help shape the development approach and provide technical assurance on complex projects. You'll also have the opportunity to influence the culture, facilitate technical delivery and work with your team on strategy and execution.

 

What will you be doing? 

 

  • You will support timely delivery of technical solutions with exemplary written, well tested code.
  • You will be an advocate and advance modern, agile software development practices and help develop and evangelise great engineering and organisational practices.
  • You will grow a healthy, collaborative engineering culture in line with the company values.
  • You will be an active part of the engineering community team and collaborate with other technical leads.
  • You will be proposing and quantifying the importance of technical debt to senior management.
  • You will have the ability to balance business deliverables and technical excellence in the work you and your team produce.

 

Who are we looking for? 

 

  • You will have solid experience working in an agile development environment
  • You will have expert JavaScript experience including asynchronous programming, pec closures, types, and ES6.
  • You will have commercial experience with React and Node.js.
  • You will have demonstrable experience with RESTful APIs and JSON.
  • You will have good knowledge of responsive web design.
  • You will have experience with Git or other source control systems.
  • You will have strong ability to debug code.
  • You will have knowledge of building performance driven websites with an understanding of network. traffic, HTTP requests and other performance focused enhancements.
  • You will have working knowledge of how to utilise manual and automated testing.
