As a core part of Teams, the Real-Time Media Experience team is responsible for building intelligent and high-quality calling and meeting experiences. We are looking for engineers in different career stages with humble mind, strong coding and problem-solving skills, and who are eager to learn new knowledge and excited to take on new challenges using both traditional and machine learning/AI based methods.

Responsibilities

You will be expected to play an active role in the prototyping, development, verification and delivery of concepts and methods for new media experience as well as improving the quality and reliability of existing experience. Our team is expanding in the following areas: video pipeline, media platforms, and media intelligence on different platforms.

• Architect, design and implement real time video/audio technologies and innovations used in Teams products taking advantage of all capabilities accessible to our clients across a large variety of platforms.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop overall product vision as well as strategies on how to realize the vision by identifying technical challenges & proposing solutions.
• Champion best practices, tools and processes for a data-driven, quality-focused release of Microsoft Teams as frequently as possible to our customers
• Mentor and drive technical excellence on the engineering team

Qualifications

• 8+ years’ experience in software industry
• Excellent software design and C/C++/STL programming skills.
• Solid problem solving, debugging and analytical skills.
• Excellent skills in technical communication and teamwork.
• Self-motivated, self-directed and be able to work under changing business priorities.
• BS/MS or PhD degree in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Have proven experience at least one of the domains below is a plus:
o Audio/Video coding and processing
o Media pipeline technologies such as MediaFoundation, AVFoundation (Objective-C), and Android Media framework (JAVA/Native/OpenMAX)
o Computer graphics technologies such as OpenGL and DirectX
o Network congestion control and bandwidth estimation
o Computer vision
o Machine learning
