About this role

We are undergoing a digital transformation. Over the next two years the pace of change in our community is accelerating. It changes everything for us: our culture, our systems, our processes, our infrastructure, the places we work and our ways of working.  And we’re changing the way we do things to achieve the ambitious targets in BT’s manifesto to be more sustainable, diverse and responsible.  We need a transformation manager to join our team. You will be joining a small team of transformation experts.  We each have our own areas of expertise but we bring them together to make awesome things happen in Service Platforms.

Service Platforms is the part of BT that designs, delivers and maintains most of the services that the public can buy from BT, including Broadband, TV, Landline and Mobile products. We also serve large parts of the UK’s infrastructure including BT Wi-Fi, The Emergency Services Network and BT Media & Broadcast to name a few. Working in SP is extremely rewarding as you get to see how the work we do makes a difference to the lives of our customers and colleagues.

In the Transformation Team you’ll be working across all of Service Platforms, as well as the Networks business unit and on pan-BT initiatives, to identify and help tackle business challenges and make it easier to get things done.

We have a wide range of initiatives in our portfolio including simplifying our processes and ways of working,  creating a culture of continuous improvement and using technology to deliver business improvements.  We support our business units with their transformation goals too, be it in the Mobile, TV, Cloud or Operations space.

You'll have the following responsibilities

It’s an exciting time to join us as we go through the biggest challenge in technology, you will have a real impact on our customers and will be an integral part in the backbone of BT.

In this role you will create and implement a clear plan to underpin our transformation targets whilst bringing initiatives from idea to implementation and delivering successful and sustainable benefits.

You will effectively influence the Service Platforms leadership team and initiative workstream leads to help shape and drive the overall transformation portfolio.  In addition, you will engender and promote a transformative mind-set amongst key stakeholders setting the tone to identify and deliver change opportunities.


Additional responsibilities:

• Support team experimentation, innovation, business agility and a collaborative culture and challenge people to think about problems in new ways.  

• Manage all progress reporting in line with agreed processes and governance to provide visibility to the service platforms leadership team and BT cost transformation programme.

• Support the development of appropriate controls and processes to govern the programme and ensure cost reductions achieved can be sustained.

• Use a range of tools, methods and strategic thinking techniques to develop benefits models for the overall service platforms transformation initiatives (beyond cost transformation), defining appropriate measures and reporting against agreed benefits.


You'll have the following skills & experience

We are looking for someone who enjoys collaborating with a wide range of people, who has a great can-do attitude and focuses on driving valuable outcomes for our people and customers. Inspiring, coaching and engaging others.  Taking people with you and influencing to build support for change. You don’t need to have a background in Telecoms, your skills and experience is more important for this role.

You will be self-motivated and proactive in driving change. You’ll have a growth mindset and leaving no stone unturned, you will continuously seek opportunities for improvement, always finding a better way.  You’ll relish the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with senior stakeholders and colleagues and quickly gain their confidence and trust.

• Willing and able to challenge accepted practices and processes, to unlock new ways of working.
