About the team
Our Net Zero Land team are seeking experienced and agile Senior Project Officers to deliver programs within the Climate Change and Sustainability Division to help our customers and partners in industry and NSW Government agencies sustainably transition to net zero emissions.
We are a cross-disciplinary team, based in a variety of locations across NSW.

About Net Zero Land
The NSW Government is leading the way in the race towards net zero emissions. The primary industries and land sector is well positioned to reduce emissions, sequester carbon from the atmosphere, generate revenue from carbon and biodiversity credits, improve productivity, and attract global investment in natural capital. The Net Zero Land team is focused on developing market and industry foundations, building critical mass and capacity and accelerating finance for natural capital and low carbon farming. There are 3 roles available within the Net Zero Land team. All roles will be:
leading a workstream
developing strategic directions
managing projects, budgets and staff
maintaining team culture and supporting staff to achieve their goals.
Senior Project Officer – focus on funds management
You will have:
experience establishing and delivering competitive grants programs
a strong focus on process and probity
an ability to streamline systems and processes to improve efficiency
Senior Project Officer – focus on data, metrics and tools
You will have experience in:
Establishing effective governance processes and systems to enable delivery of multiple concurrent projects.
developing information products including digital tools, data sets or metrics.
engaging and collaborating with stakeholders to develop solutions which benefit the end customer (e.g. landholders, banks, investors).
Identifying and analysing trends and gaps, reviewing data and providing recommendations to senior decision makers.
Senior Project Officer – focus on market development and natural capital
You will have:
Technical knowledge of on-farm practices, carbon abatement opportunities and carbon and other environmental markets.
Experience developing government interventions in environmental markets (e.g. carbon, biodiversity, renewable energy or energy efficiency)
Experience establishing new programs, including establishing work plans, budgets and governance arrangements.
Excellent skills in collaborating with stakeholders, including subject matter experts, to develop solutions which benefit the end customer (e.g. landholders, banks, investors).

Key knowledge and Experience
Superior knowledge of the operational requirements for successful delivery of sustainability climate change, resilience, adaptation and/or net zero emissions programs.
Proven ability in delivering to stakeholders and take action on delivering sustainability outcomes.
Experience in delivering projects and ensuring outcomes are achieved on time, on budget, and to quality standards.
Desirable Requirements
Minimum 10 years’ experience in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Land Management, Primary Industries and/or Business/Finance disciplines with knowledge of net-zero transition, environmental markets, land management, primary industries and/or nature-based decarbonisation solutions.
Experience delivering outcomes through a collaborative delivery approach.
Strategic leadership experience.
Experience in establishing and growing new programs and projects.
