Sydney Metro is Australia's biggest public transport project and first fully-automated metro rail network, connecting customers and transforming the way Sydney travels. Our new generation of driverless trains are fast, safe and reliable, and link with Sydney's existing public transport network to provide seamless journeys. About the team
Transport for NSW is delivering a once-in-a-century investment into new infrastructure and services, including Sydney Metro.
The first line of this new fully automated railway opened in 2019 and by 2024 will deliver 31 Metro stations and more than 66km of Metro rail.
Planning is also underway for future lines which will shape the way Australia’s largest city travels, making Sydney Metro the biggest public transport project in the nation’s history.
The opportunity
The primary purpose of the role is to provide strategic leadership and to manage interfaces with third party stakeholders during the delivery of the Sydney Metro West project. The role is responsible for the development and implementation of formal agreements with third parties from initial investigations, enabling works, tunnelling, station/precinct works through to rail systems installation and commissioning. The role facilitates engagement to ensure obligations under multiple agreements are met in a way which provides quality stakeholder outcomes, develops strong working relationships and supports a consistent approach to quality interface management across the wider project.

About you
You will possess previous experience on large scale infrastructure projects with a solid track record on the construction contractor / client sides. You will have developed a deep understanding of how projects are constructed, and of contractual obligations, legislation, policy, processes, and practices that are part of the delivery process.
Key to your success in the role will be how you build relationships between the Sydney Metro West project team and third parties including local councils, asset owners, utility providers, local residents and other Government bodies such as Sydney Trains and the Port Authority.
You will have a track record of successfully developing and managing long term collaborative relationships across a wide array and you will be able to influence and negotiate positive outcomes
Essential requirements
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Commercial, Legal, Construction, Engineering or equivalent
Extensive experience working in a commercial construction environment with a demonstrable ability to effectively manage complex negotiations, stakeholder relations and contracts.
Demonstrated experience in successfully leading the development and implementation of the third-party interface agreements for major infrastructure projects, including live road and rail projects.
Experience with and a sound understanding of the legislation, policy, processes and practices involved in planning for and delivering major projects within a government setting.
Model good leadership to inspire direction and delivery, develop people, and drive change living the NSW Public Sector and organisational values to achieve outstanding outcomes for the Sydney Metro and our customers
