The Azure Space and Spectrum team seeks an experienced Program Manager (PM) to lead efforts in the virtualization of modems and ground segment processing for the space and satellite industry. In this role, you will apply your knowledge of space communications and software radio to bring the customers’ perspective to development initiatives and own product vision in an agile engineering process. You will work closely with both external partners and the Space & Spectrum development teams to drive the virtualization of space communications with cloud technologies.

Responsibilities
Takes a leadership program management role and owns the successful delivery of products and capabilities to partners & customers.
Interact with external customers and partners to derive technical architectures, requirements, and develop program roadmaps.
Work with our development team to execute technical program roadmaps and vision.
Execute new technical ideas that build on and enhance Azure’s cloud compute and networking.
Communicate, share ideas, and collaboratively work with partner teams, PMs, and leads.
Stay abreast and informed of the latest technologies and share your findings and insights about their utility and potential for our technical development efforts.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of experience working in technical programs or projects
Technical experience in space and satellite communications systems, such as on-orbit payloads and ground segment processing
Knowledge in the virtualization of modems with software radio, including accelerated processing (e.g., FPGAs, GPUs) and edge computing
Proven experience as an engineer or program or product manager on complex technical projects
Desired Qualifications:
Direct engineering experience with software-defined radio (SDR) systems
Knowledge of software development tools commonly used by software modem developers
Experience working with cloud platforms and services
The candidate should be equally comfortable interacting with anyone: from a very technical developer to a business-focused executive.
Has an understanding of existing customer pain-points and barriers to virtualization in the industry today
Experience developing new partnerships and working with industry to solve technical and business challenges with new product offerings
Ability to collaborate within and across teams effectively
Strong analytical and strategic capabilities, with excellent written and presentation skills
Experience with Government-focused and/or -funded projects and experience with Government customers
