Senior Practitioner MHST NHS Scale 6, Mental Health Support Team (MHST) – Allerdale

This post is offered with or without a training option depending on candidate's current qualifications (Including possible Postgraduate Diploma in CBT at Northumbria University)

We are looking for a Senior Practitioner NHS Band 6 who has a shared vision and CBT expertise to join the new Allerdale MHST Team and contribute to the successful delivery of this new early intervention and prevention mental health service in North Cumbria.

Depending on the candidates qualifications at the point of application there is the opportunity to attend the Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) at Northumbria University within the next 2 years.

Successful candidates will be employed on a full-time basis and based with the Mental Health Support Team to deliver mental health support across a range of educational settings in the region. 

The post holder will report to the Team Manager (NHS AfC 7) and will be accountable to the Children's Service Manager (NHS AfC 8a).

  • Clinical Supervision, Training & Teaching

Qualifications and Training

  • Qualified in a core mental health profession such as Registered Mental Health Nurse/ Social Worker / Occupational Therapist or Art Therapist and evidence of study at Degree level (level 6) and Membership of professional body OR
  • Evidence of an equivalent academic qualification at Degree level (Level 6) in a health and social care or education related subject and completion of The British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) Knowledge Skills and Attributes: http://www.babcp.com/Accreditation/CBP/KSA.aspx
  • Minimum of 2 years substantial post qualification experience, some of which must be working with Children, young people and their carers in a mental health or other complex care setting
  • Successful candidates will need to complete a Northumbria University Application form if they are applying for the Post grad Dip CBT course.
