Senior Partnerships and Capability Advisor

Location: Work from home opportunity, within travel distance from Wellington, Palmerston North, Hamilton, Dunedin or Christchurch offices

Ko wai mātou | About us

Be part of a team who are aiming for higher outcomes for the health of wai and tangata in Aotearoa. Taumata Arowai are committed to working in partnership across Aotearoa, taking our lead from Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Te Mana o te Wai, to regulate and influence the water services sector to improve outcomes.

Are you a natural influencer, a networker, a flexible worker with the ability to help communities/hapori and organisations see service change as an opportunity for our tamariki and mokopuna? Then this is the role for you.

Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

Our Senior Partnerships and Capability Advisors will be our go-to people for developing effective partnerships and relationships across the water services sector, government and non-government leads for training and development, and with iwi/Māori. They will approach this mahi with the goal of identifying and advancing key areas for improving sector capability and linking the sector up in the process. To achieve this, they will:

  • Identify and implement key methods of engaging across the water services sector, and with iwi/Māori and community groups
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of the water services sector and its current performance levels, as well as identify and advise on key issues impacting sector development
  • Gather relevant information, discern patterns and trends, and produce effective advice on change within the sector to senior leaders
  • Identify opportunities throughout the water services sector, the community and iwi/Māori to improve sector capability and performance
  • Develop effective partnerships across the water services sector, iwi/Māori and community groups to advance common goals.

Innovation, managing ambiguity and flexibility are key drivers in the way we will work – our size requires us to be smart and agile.

Ko koe tēnei | About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Will be confident at navigating a sector (local government and businesses) experiencing regulatory change
  • Can engage effectively with iwi/Māori and communities/hapori and organisations impacted by the water services reforms
  • Understands the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, holds knowledge of Te Ao Māori and Te Mana o Te Wai, and has a willingness to imbed these into their mahi
  • Knows how to set up an effective formal partnership
  • Has the ability to work collaboratively, to think at a system level and identify opportunities that will build capability.
  • Has full drivers licence and suitable vehicle for regional travel.
