As a Senior Operational Policy Analyst you will lead analysis and operational policy advice to support the successful development and delivery of the Emissions Trading Scheme for forestry and other afforestation initiatives.
This role involves working closely with policy and operational staff, partner agencies, tangata whenua and forestry stakeholders to ensure the ETS is operating effectively and efficiently.

As a Senior Operational Policy Analyst, you will have a strong policy or operational policy background, and you will be able to take a lead role in the team. You will be able to quickly understand and critically analyse technical concepts and communicate to a broad range of audiences. You will also demonstrate a strong ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, colleagues and senior management. Previous experience working with a range of stakeholders to deliver work, and knowledge of climate change, land use and/or forestry will be an advantage.

The Operational Policy – Forest Incentives team provides regulatory and operational policy advice on the Emissions Trading Scheme for forestry and the Government's broader afforestation incentives. We are a highly motivated team with a focus on developing user-centric regulations, operational policy, and guidance.
The team is part of the Forestry and Land Management directorate. The directorate covers a range of regulatory and operational responsibilities for forestry in the ETS, with a focus on New Zealand's climate change responsibilities.
