About the team

The Strategy, Portfolio and Investment (SPI) branch leads Sydney Trains Enterprise Strategy and Planning, Investment Management, Enterprise Portfolio Management, the Network Growth Portfolio, Reporting and Analytics, and Transformation.

SPI provides best practice project management services across the business while delivering large scale, enterprise-wide programs of work to achieve the long-term strategic objectives of Sydney Trains.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Strategy, we have a newly created Senior Manager Strategy role where you will be supporting the design and implementation of strategy for the Engineering & Maintenance (E&M) portfolio, ensuring efficient coordination of resources and strategic alignment in line with the vision and strategy of Sydney Trains.

This role will initially be offered on a 12 month temporary full-time basis.

What you will be involved in:

You will develop strategic plans for the E&M portfolio, including ongoing refinement of the strategic direction through the assessment of operational and strategic performance.

Provide high quality, expert advice to the Director, Strategy, Head of Strategy, Executive Director, Strategy, Portfolio and Investment and other Sydney Trains Executives to enable strategic thinking and optimise the strategic planning processes for E&M.

Assist in the writing and updating of strategic and business plans ensuring there is a consistent and integrated process across the organisation.

Work with individual E&M teams to define portfolio specific initiatives that will be required to execute against the Sydney Trains integrated Strategy.

About you

You are a collaborative and passionate leader highly capable of developing and implementing strategies that drive improved customer and business outcomes. You have a proven track record of thinking outside the box when developing or building strategies within a large complex organisation. 

With previous experience in a commercial/strategy role, you know how to build strong relationships, collaborate, and communicate effectively with leaders and other business stakeholders to drive outcomes.
