Job Description

About us

Transport for NSW keeps our State moving by providing safe, integrated and efficient transport systems. We put our customers at the centre of everything we do – and we do a lot. We connect people, communities and industry and manage how they use our road, rail and maritime networks and services, and even active modes like walking and cycling. The work we do connects the journeys you take every day.

We are a state government organisation made up of more than 28,000 people and we're in the middle of delivering the largest transport infrastructure program in Australia's history. We work across planning, policy and procurement, harnessing data and technology to develop smarter and more adaptive transport solutions.

That means job opportunities in metropolitan and regional areas right across NSW – you have the chance to be part of creating a lasting legacy that will benefit generations to come.

The Division

The Regional and Outer Metropolitan division is focused on understanding the particular needs of regional communities across NSW and delivering customer-centred integrated transport services and infrastructure.

The opportunity

The Senior Manager - Social Procurement and Workforce Development role is responsible for leading the implementation of a Skills, Employment & Industry Development Strategy for the Great Western Highway Upgrade Program. The role will work in a multi-disciplinary project team and with principal contractors and the supply chain. Managing relationships with key skills, employment and industry development stakeholders is key when it comes to initiatives such as pre-employment programs, a skills centre, and a business hub.

The Program is seeking to set new benchmarks in sustainability including social outcomes for local and regional people. Supported by a dedicated leadership team, the successful candidate will take on this 5-year fixed-term opportunity and be able to drive tangible social outcomes that make a difference to the Blue Mountains, Lithgow and broader Central West Region.

About you

The successful candidate will likely hold tertiary and/or vocational qualifications in a relevant discipline such as training and assessment, human resources, social impact or business management. This is an amazing opportunity to join a high performing team as a senior manager, driving strategy to improve socio-economic outcomes for the NSW community.

You will have demonstrated experience in any or all of the following areas: social procurement, workforce development, training, employment, diversity and inclusion programs, business capability building and/or industry development. Additionally, experience delivering social procurement and workforce development outcomes on infrastructure projects, and have strong industry and government stakeholder relationship

In line with Transport for NSW's commitment to supporting flexible working, we encourage applications from regional NSW. Ideally, for this vacancy, you'll be based out of the Central West region (Orange or Bathurst).
