Transport for NSW (TfNSW) is the lead agency of the NSW Transport cluster. Our role is to lead the development of a safe, efficient, integrated transport system that keeps people and goods moving, connects communities and shapes the future of our cities, centres and regions. We work with several government agencies to coordinate metro, train, bus, ferry, light rail, road and maritime services, always keeping the safety and comfort of our customers at the heart of what we do. 

The Division

The Regional and Outer Metropolitan division is focused on understanding the particular needs of regional communities across NSW and delivering customer-centred integrated transport services and infrastructure.  

The Opportunity

We have a unique opportunity for a strategic leader to oversee management of the Regional Transport Operations Centre (RTOC). You will shape and provide strategic direction to the team managing and reporting on the real-time operations of the State transport network to optimise the customer experience and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, consistent and customer-focused operational services.

You will also:

•    Provide advice and develop, implement and manage systems and risks, including reviewing regional operational procedures, practices and resourcing, to deliver safe, consistent, high-quality and cost-effective operational services 

•    Motivate, encourage and inspire the development of a strong, professional team with a clear focus on the delivery of customer-focused outcomes

•    Establish and manage the principles, operating parameters and standards for transport operations, including conducting exercises to test operational readiness in the RTOC and fostering the development of staff

•    Proactively identify and manage risks, contributing to the development of risk management plans, risk controls and performance of risk mitigation activities 

About you

We are looking for a strong leader who has a passion for continuous improvement, driving cultural change and demonstrated experience in leading high performing teams in a similar operational environment. You will bring a wealth of experience in uplifting the capability of those around you to drive a positive, performance-based culture that is customer and performance focused.

You will also have highly advanced knowledge of the transport system, including experience managing major incidents. You will possess exceptional stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and negotiate at all levels of an organisation.
