About the team

The Operations, Customer and Place-making team ensures Sydney Metro is equipped to deliver integrated, reliable, customer focused and efficient services. We are also managing large scale place-making projects, designing and developing thriving precincts where community members can gather, connect, shop, work and play. We are proud of what we have achieved so far and excited for the full vision of Sydney Metro to come to life.

The opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager Place Making to join the team here at Sydney Metro on a permanent full-time basis.  The primary purpose of the role is to lead the provision of specialist place-making and precinct activation planning for Sydney Metro projects, to ensure metro stations and surrounding precincts are integrated with surrounding areas, activated and consistent with the overall project and government objectives. 

What you will be involved in:

Provide specialist advice and input into a range of precinct design and development processes including station and interchange plans, precinct masterplans and precinct development plans

Develop strategies and provide advice on interim activation activities, retail/advertising and urban design and public domain outcomes

Support the realisation of secondary revenue outcomes to promote activation

Coordinate and maintain effective and collaborative place-based relationships with State and local government agencies and private sector partners

Develop and influence the preparation of masterplans for complex station precincts, including leading interfaces with precinct development agencies, where relevant

Participate in and influence sub-regional/district planning and planning proposals to ensure a consistent and coordinated approach to precinct planning activities and timely realisation of positive land use and place outcomes.

To be successful in this role you will have;

Exceptional communication, collaboration and stakeholder management skills and the ability to operate within a large matrix environment.

Tertiary education in urban design or planning or a similar relevant discipline.

Extensive experience in urban planning or place-making associated with major transport, urban development or infrastructure projects would be highly regarded.

Up to date knowledge of transport planning issues and trends and the NSW Government's overall transport, place and land use planning objectives

Experience managing a team.

Exceptional stakeholder management and relationship building skills.

Ability to effectively communicate complex issues to colleagues, stakeholders and the community

Exposure/experience with tender evaluation processes would be preferred
