Overview:

As part of the ambitious boots.com growth programme, a Senior Marketplace Manager is sought to lead the implementation, ongoing management and growth of a new Marketplace proposition.

About the opportunity:

The Senior Market Place Manager is an exciting opportunity to lead a key element of the Boots.com growth strategy with significant visibility, support and investment. A Marketplace is planned to enable Boots to significantly grow its range and fulfill ever more of our customers’ health and beauty needs.

The role is required to act as business lead during the set up phase(working with IT and third parties); engage, establish and grow the supplier base; establish the marketplace team and ways of working and then be responsible for the effective ongoing running of the Marketplace to achieve £multi-million revenue targets.

This is a highly cross functional role reporting to the Head of E-Commerce - Boots.com, working with teams across boots.com and the wider Boots business to create a great customer and supplier experience, as well as sustainable business processes to support long term growth.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Accountable for establishing and growing the Boots Marketplace to achieve aggressive revenue targets

• Acting as business lead in a large virtual team to ensure customer and commercial goals are met in the set up of the marketplace. Once in place, the focus will move to optimizing the platform and prioritizing & driving future technical improvements

• Shaping & implementing the Marketplace supplier strategy, and leading the engagement and onboarding of new suppliers, products and brands. Running a test & learn programme to establish the most appropriate suppliers/brands/products to operate via dropship, marketplace or directly with Boots

• Ambassador of the Marketplace within Boots, presenting progress & performance updates up to Executive level audiences, sharing learnings across WBA as required, and actively engaging the broader Boots.com and Commercial teams in the role and opportunities of Marketplace

• Responsible for all elements of the Marketplace proposition and processes, working across boots.com and other departments to ensure all elements are operating properly and are optimized to drive performance and support growth – this includes financial processes, on-site search performance, content across the site and on off-site channels (e.g. social) to drive traffic, etc.

• Drive business analysis and reporting and create and action recommendations to improve the business

• Management and development of a team of around 10 direct reports (potentially plus external support), and responsible for developing Marketplace understanding & best practice across Boots

• A key member of the Ecommerce Leadership Team and seen as a senior digital leader, participating and contributing to the overall growth of boots.com and broader Boots range strategy

About you:

• 5+ years sales and management experience in a retail environment, with extensive experience of operating a Marketplace (preferably having established it from scratch) and with an established network of supplier relationships

• Engaging, with exceptional stakeholder management & communication skills – up to Executive level

• Experience of project leadership: sponsoring technical projects, working with system integration partners, financial appraisal, prioritizing developments, strong stakeholder management and influencing skills

• Eager to challenge the status quo and push boundaries

• Strong attention to detail and ability to use data in decision-making and forming recommendations

• A real team player, able to bring people together to solve problems, remove obstacles and deliver the best outcome for customers and the business

• Experience in leading, developing and empowering a team
