About the IT Team
The Sydney Metro IT team has undergone a recent transformation and consists of a vibrant group of experienced professionals who deliver lifecycle management across digital, product/platform, security and risk, customer experience, service management, application development/integration, architecture and technology portfolio management.
The Strategy & Architecture Function
Leads technology design decisions and ensure overall technology alignment and interoperability within Sydney Metro and across the Transport for NSW portfolios.

Specialise in their area of practice & work as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the particular area, responsible for maintaining expertise and in-depth knowledge in their specialization

Provide technical leadership and strategic advice to ensure continuous alignment between their domain and the broader ICT Strategy.
Ensure Strategic alignment to the Transport 2056, Corporate Plan, IT Strategy & supporting product & platform / application roadmaps
Stakeholder Management – actively engage in strategic stakeholder management to advise & influence the direction and prioritization of technology investment
Engaging across business (all levels) AND technology stakeholders to conduct Strategic Planning and define forward work plans, aligned to strategic direction
Vendor Management – Establish strong relationships with our strategic vendors and partners
Manage disruption to the portfolio through ad-hoc, cluster-wide or inter-agency demand
Contribute to the iteration of the IT Strategy, where required, in response to changing demands of the business
Prioritize work and manage time effectively to ensure we deliver against our commitments
The opportunity
Domain Architect – Business
Establishes and maintains key relationships with senior stakeholders to build and maintain a holistic view of the organisational strategy, processes, information and ​information technology assets, ensuring that the business and IT are in alignment, and links the business mission, strategy and processes of an organisation to its IT strategy.
Builds and maintains the business architecture, including maturity across people, process and technology to underpin the technology portfolio, inform and prioritize investment based on corporate and business strategy and assess the impact of technology and organizational change. Looks across the Transport cluster for opportunities to consolidate and converge and leverage existing solutions where duplicate capabilities exist.
provides a clear picture of how organisational existing and future technology requirements may be accomplished in an effective, agile, sustainable and flexible manner. ​
chairs the Sydney Metro Portfolio Design Authority (PDA)
Your key accountabilities are:
Live the NSW Public Sector and organisational values to achieve outstanding outcomes for the organisation and customers
Provide high-level strategic advice, co-develop financial and business case models to assess technologies and assist in the prioritisation of future investment in technology systems and processes to support business objectives and the business eco-system
Lead all phases of enterprise architecture development, understanding demand, defining scope, modelling systems, analysing requirements and planning implementations in support of business objectives to enable the business to become operationally efficient and effective
Develop standards and reference models that support the implementation of the IT strategy for the organisation and provide architectural leadership in the resolution of inter-program and inter-project issues, including cyber security and translate business practices and processes into architectural roadmaps to enable delivery
Provide guidance and direction for design and implementation of development frameworks, guardrails and principles for consumption across multiple development teams
Undertake high-level research, horizon scanning and analysis to identify future IT trends, and assess and explain the value of existing investments and emerging technologies and their applicability to support business objectives for the domain
Maintain strict quality control with data standards within the organisation and lend expertise to other architectural domains to ensure quality and assurance
Support the platform teams in aligning their demand prioritisation and forecasting to the enterprise strategy, ideation and project costing
Support the business engagement team with strategic portfolio management and strategic planning to support business outcomes

About you
Experience or exposure to any or all of the Asset Lifecycle: Transport (Rail), Engineering and Design, Construction, Asset Management & Operations, Maintenance (desirable)
Experience developing a Business Architecture or high level business process map aligned with organizational strategy & operating model
Experience working with multiple strategic partners to deliver consistent IT services
Experience Identifying and addressing complex IT issues and providing alternate solutions, based on well considered and balanced assessment of the facts and consequences
Recent certification in TOGAF & Business Architecture or Business Analysis (or equivalent experience)
Experienced in the use of Technology Architecture modelling tools (iServer365 preferred)
Experience assessing and responding to the impact of changes in the IT and public sector operating environment and ensuring a high integration with the agency’s strategic directions
