About the team 

As Senior Manager Design you would be working as part of the Sydney Metro Engineering Design Solutions design team.  This is a multi-disciplinary team with a focus on design of Metro stations, precincts, and integrated development.  The roles are initially intended to be embedded in the design and delivery of the Sydney Metro west project.

The opportunity                      

We are looking to appoint two Senior Manager Design roles. Reporting to Associate Director Design, you will lead all aspects of design development including the review, provision of advice and design function for technical, architecture, urban development, and urban design for transport infrastructure and related corridors and precincts. The role prepares, manages and reviews the Project’s design deliverables and ensures that designs and specifications delivered are high quality, meet customer and transport product requirements, integrate effectively with other transport modes, incorporate master planning principles and practice, meet the requirements of all project development workstreams and meet contract specifications.

About you

Extensive experience in a similar role ideally within the government/ transport infrastructure sector

Demonstrated experience with and understanding of the legislation, policy, processes and practices involved in planning for and delivering major transport projects

A proven track record of providing technical design leadership across highly integrated rail and transport infrastructure projects; urban design and architectural station experience desirable

As an experienced team leader, you will be adept in understanding and dealing with technical, commercial and relationship challenges. Finding solutions and leading resolution

Using proven communication and stakeholder management skills you will be developing trusted and productive internal and external business relationships

You will understand the challenges and opportunities of working within a matrix-based organisation, and of collaborating with multiple deployed teams

Ability to have robust conversations diplomatically and sensitively with internal and external stakeholders

Architectural design management and human centre design experience desirable

Result oriented with a keen sense of urgency

The role is identified as a Rail Safety Worker under the Rail Industry Worker Scheme

Tertiary qualifications in architecture, urban design, engineering, development or a relevant discipline and membership, or ability to become a member, of a relevant professional body.
