About this role
The role holder will have a direct influence on business performance by increasing the win-rate of bids through competitive and innovative commercials, these bids are often worth in excess of £100m.
Responsible for developing winning commercial proposals that balance risk and reward and drive the best outcome for BT Global and a brilliant customer proposition. This is an exciting opportunity with exposure to customers, senior stakeholders, and a range of other business areas within BT Global.
You'll have the following responsibilities
Accountable for advising on the commercial strategy, creating the P&L and commercials of high value complex bids and managing the overall commercial risk and return of the bid
Develops the commercial wrap for the bid and ensures they are reflected in the contract
Ensures pricing is competitive using benchmarking and other comparable bid information
Provides commercial finance governance and ensures the bid’s commercials are of a quality that benefits GS and is competitive for the customer
Working across the bid team to identify risks, issues and opportunities to be addressed as part of the overall commercial solution
Accountable for ensuring appropriate risk analysis and mitigation strategies are identified and escalated where appropriate
Accountable for creating innovative commercial modelling and mechanisms for the bid, ensuring GS profitability, risk mitigation and customer requirements are met
Accountable to make recommendations to BT business unit CFO (> £30m) and BT Group CFO (> £100m), as well as other business unit leadership team members, to enable informed decisions
Leads/helps with customer commercial negotiations serving as the point of contact on commercial contractual matters
Works directly with customers in understanding TCO and influences in shaping their business case.
Accountable for translating the bid P&L into customer pricing and contract pricing schedules.
Accountable and authorised to apply relevant discounts on the bid, with clear evidence of their impact and benefit
Accountable for handing over contract commercials to the in-life Contract Manager
You'll have the following skills & experience
Strong stakeholder management skills; internally and with customers and suppliers
Builds strong cross-functional relationships, embedding and role modelling collaborative ways of working
Manages conflicts of interest well at all levels and possesses strong ethics
Drives the business forward, making change happen and has a willingness to challenge and do the right thing
Has an affinity for problem solving and offering solutions to complex issues
Interprets, models and presents complex data, financial information and risk simply and effectively to senior internal GS stakeholders to support decision making
Conduct commercial risk assessments and manage identified risks through appropriate mitigation.
Excellent analytical & financial skills and is able to articulate the drivers of a P&L
Able to work under pressure and prioritise workloads to deliver timely and accurate outputs
Champions new agile innovative ways of working both in terms of behaviours, digital tools and best practices
Mind-set that begins and ends with the customer and personally role models a strong customer focus where customers are the reason why we have a business; places the achievement of excellent customer solutions at the heart of the organisation.
Develops financial and business leadership of others, advising and coaching on Commercial, Bid and financial policy and practices.
Strong legal and compliance knowledge; understanding different global regulatory requirements.
Proactively monitors market trends to gain insight and shape processes
Fully qualified (ACCA/CIMA/ACA)
Significant experience of successfully managing and negotiating high value (£50m+), highly complex bids
Extensive customer facing experience with senior customer stakeholders
Advanced Microsoft Excel modelling skills supporting complex deal pricing, business cases and scenario modelling
Comprehensive understanding of the management of commercial risk during a bid
Possesses strong commercial acumen
Presenting complex financial data to CXO leaders whilst providing a comprehensive understanding of the issues and achieving their support
Preferred
Telecommunication/ IT industry knowledge and experience
Good relevant legal knowledge
Mentoring and coaching to team members, helping them develop and learn best practices
Contract document drafting
