We invite researchers with expertise in machine learning, deep learning in particular, to join the Health Intelligence team at the Microsoft Research Cambridge (UK) lab. The Health Intelligence team aims to transform medicine via trusted and reliable AI, while preserving the essence of high quality care which is the human element.

We are a multi-disciplinary team that includes engineers, machine learning experts, statisticians, medical practitioners, user experience researchers, and biologists working on problems in the areas of Hospital Care, Mental Health, Medical Imaging and Immunomics. To have an impact in these areas requires diversity and an open attitude to learn new skills and mental models. For example, we are using machine learning to decode the human immune system to facilitate the diagnosis of different diseases, developing tools for next generation medical imaging, or helping clinicians to cope with the growing demand on healthcare.

As a Machine Learning Researcher, you will be part of a team that develops solutions to problems that span multiple healthcare and life science research domains. This is an excellent opportunity to work on audacious research problems with the potential for real-world impact.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have experience with Deep Learning and have strong intellectual curiosity and passion to solve real-world problems in healthcare. The responsibilities include:

• Work with an interdisciplinary team on healthcare applications of machine learning.
• Independently design, implement, run, analyse and document machine learning methods and experiments to solve real-world healthcare problems at scale.
• Collaborate, communicate across teams, including key partners.
• Contribute to  open source software , including its design, implementation, and documentation.

Qualifications

• PhD or relevant experience with a focus on Deep Learning.
• Publication record at top-tier ML conferences and/or high-impact life-science journals.
• Have experience/interest in ML for health and/or life-sciences.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
• Excellent coding skills.
